Recovery Connections Ambassadors

Mobilising Lived-Experience to Lead Change

Recovery grows through connection, confidence, and visibility.

But there is a challenge in finding and connecting the recovery supportive strengths and assets in communities and giving them room to grow.

The Recovery Connections Ambassadors Model is a proven way to do just this.

About the Model

The Recovery Ambassadors model was developed to build leadership, confidence, and visibility within local recovery communities through the training and mobilisation of Recovery Ambassadors. Through delivery of our accredited, structured Level 2 training, we support local people with lived and living experience to become visible connectors, leaders, and advocates for recovery.

This work brings together evidence-based practice and authentic community development to support local authorities, public heath teams and community partners to understand their local recovery landscape, build a network of nationally accredited and trained local Recovery Ambassadors, and build pathways of support and tackle stigma and recovery barriers.

Our Approach

The model helps recovery find direction by connecting local knowledge with lived-experience leadership.

Through a two-stage process of identifying assets, uncovering recovery supportive resources and recognising local strengths, these are mobilised and activated through local recovery ambassadors, people with lived-experience who tangibly connect people to the support, all while nurturing emerging pathways for lived experience to shape local change.

Through our Ambassador training and mentoring, recovery becomes visible, confident, and community-led. The legacy is areas are strong, connected communities, that continue to grow and guide themselves.

Bring This Approach To Your Area

We work with councils, public health teams, and community partnerships to help recovery grow from the ground up.
