Your Recovery, Your Community

Where Recovery Meets Community

Where Recovery Meets Community

Recovery doesn’t happen in isolation.

It grows in conversations, community halls, and everyday connections, in the spaces where people feel seen, heard, and valued.

About the Model

The Your Recovery, Your Communities Model is our evidence-informed, community-led framework for supporting the development of Lived-Experience Recovery Organisations (LEROs).

It brings people with lived and living experience together with professionals, families, and allies to build understanding, reduce stigma, and co-create a plan for the future.

At its heart, it’s about listening first, connecting people, amplifying their voices, and turning insight into action.

Our Approach

The model helps recovery take root by listening first and leading together.

We connect with people where they are, bringing communities, services, and lived-experience voices into shared conversation.

Each step, from understanding the landscape to co-creating ideas and building LERO capacity, is shaped by local insight and guided by LERO principles of authenticity, collaboration, and hope.

The result is a flexible, evidence-informed framework that grows leadership from within and leaves behind a countywide legacy of belonging, visibility, and community-led recovery.

The Impact

Our model is both relational and rigorous.

We recognise and celebrate the strengths already present. We build bridges between people with lived-experience and communities, commissioners, and treatment services.

It gives local people the confidence, skills, and networks to lead.

Through this approach, over 500 people have taken part in events and activities, sharing stories, ideas, and hope for what recovery can look like in Derbyshire.

When lived-experience leadership is supported, recovery doesn’t just transform individuals, it strengthens communities.

The Your Recovery, Your Community Model shows what happens when a local area commits to listening, connecting, and co-producing recovery together.

Our framework can be adapted anywhere: practical, hopeful, and proven to build trust and momentum.
