Who
We Are

Recovery Connections is based in the North East of England. We support people affected by drug and alcohol issues – and we work to challenge the stigma that surrounds both addiction and the people who’ve been through it.

This is support that welcomes and understands you.

Most of our team have personal experience of addiction and recovery. We understand what it’s like and we know what works (as well as what doesn’t). Which is why we place such value on empathy, honesty, and community

We also believe in recovery that’s visible. That means celebrating your progress. Helping others to see that recovery could work for them, and that it makes life better.

Who is Recovery Connections for?

Our services are open to anyone:

  • People who are using drugs and alcohol
  • People thinking about changing their lifestyle
  • People already in recovery — whether that’s been for weeks, months or even years.

You can also find volunteering opportunities, attend inspiring events, and connect with people dedicated to supporting your personal recovery goals.

What does recovery mean to us?

We believe recovery should be led by the people who are living it, shaped by their experiences and of how it feels to use drugs and alcohol, how it feels to stop, and how it feels to live without these substances in our lives.

To us, recovery means:

Real choices

Real connection

Having a voice, and empowering you with the strength to find yours

Being able to start and navigate a journey towards achieving your full potential

And having no shame in the story that got you there

We don’t judge. We don’t preach. We just offer support that works.

Why Recovery Connections works.

We don’t offer ‘one size fits all’ solutions. Instead, we offer understanding, respect, and practical support that will help you, as an individual, to live the life you want.

Most of our frontline staff, peer mentors and volunteers are in recovery themselves. That means they get it — and they’re here to support you and others in a way that’s real, honest, and grounded in experience.

And because we’re a community that shares experiences and struggles, we offer solidarity that can make you feel stronger, and safer, and more able to find a lasting recovery for yourself.

We also know rubbish when we hear it. We don’t pretend recovery is easy. But we do know it’s possible. And we’ll always be honest with you.
