Recovery Connections is officially part of the Darlington Drug & Alcohol Services (STRIDE) partnership. After several months of hosting groups and developing the Community aspect of Recovery to the partnership, we joined other local services, project leaders and local commissioners, to officially begin work in the town, and develop recovery in Darlington.

Alongside staff from With You, and the Council’s Access Team, we will provide a trio of excellent pathways into Recovery, in Darlington. Recruiting a new Service Manager, to oversee the work, and appointing Michelle Burns as Community Lead, these senior staff will work with two new Recovery Coaches and a Volunteer Lead from the start of the contract.

However, the IPS Employment service will also be active in Darlington, with Lisa Ede from South Tees Employment Connections leading the service, and new staff Jess Fellows and Ged Power working with local jobseekers and employers.

This now means that within Darlington, there is a an active Access Team, creating pathways for support, an experienced Clinical Team – also supporting young people – and a new Recovery Team available for local people. This combination of support and experience can only be beneficial to the community.

With a rehab facility also set to open, and Tracy Dixon moving from her position as Gateshead Rehab Manager, to Service Manager in the town, there will be plenty of experience for people to learn from, and be inspired by, as the service grows and establishes a reputation. Only a short drive or train ride from our Middlesbrough headquarters, we’re do excited for what can be achieved in the town, and what it will do for the community.
