With only one month gone in the year so far, there have already been plenty of positive connections made and nurtured with North East businesses. PD Ports, of course, sponsored the We Stand United category, at our recent Staff Awards event, while the event itself was attended by 50+ people from outside of the charity.
But even before then, several members of staff made a notable impact on people who have previously had little chance to see the whole scope of the work we do across the charity.
First up was Mark Stephenson, who was given the spotlight at the Tees Valley Business Club event, Building Tees Valley. Reflecting on the progress of the work that’s been developed at PD Ports, over the last 12 months, and delivered by Mark Coulson and Beverley Haines, Mark presented the Employee Consultancy offering to 150+ local businesspeople.
After the event, Mark reflected: “It was a privilege for our charity, Recovery Connections, to use the Business Spotlight session at the Tees Valley Business Club at Wynyard Hall, to give members an insight into the important work that our charity does and the ways in which we can support local businesses and their workforce.
As a charity that was established in Middlesbrough in 2008 and now delivering services across the north east with strong working links across the world, the story of the growing success of businesses in Tees Valley strongly resonated with us. We are very proud of our Middlesbrough and Tees Valley roots.”
Just a few days later, however, another member of staff was introducing an entire workforce to Naloxone, and how it can be administered. Peter Da Silva (at this point unaware of his upcoming David Jackson: Outstanding Contribution Award), visited the offices of Hinson Security, where dozens of staff learned about his work as Harm Minimisation Specialist.
Victoria Tiffin, Director of Events & Security, left some excellent feedback, following his visit: “A fabulous few days with the pleasure of Peter, from Recovery Connections, training 45 of our team, from senior managers to admin staff, on Naloxone awareness and administration.
As a Security company we have noticed the drastic changes within the industry, seeing more people under the influence of drugs rather than intoxicated. A huge thank you to CEO Dot Smith from Recovery Connections for making this happen, and another first at Hinson Security within the North East event economy.”
Attending and presenting at events like this, and inviting people into our own celebrations and special occasions, will continue to support us in reaching new audiences over the coming year.
