At Recovery Connections, we believe in hope, belonging, and the power of community. We’re looking for a passionate and committed Community Coach to join our Redcar team — someone who believes that people can and do recover, and wants to play a part in making that happen every day. 

About the Role 

As a Community Coach, you’ll work alongside people at different stages of their recovery journey, creating safe, supportive, and inclusive spaces where individuals can grow, connect, and move forward. 

You’ll deliver group activities, promote mutual aid, and offer practical support and encouragement — helping people build confidence, develop recovery capital, and find their own pathway to a meaningful life beyond addiction. 

This is a varied, people-focused role where your ability to connect, motivate, and support others will make a real difference.

What You’ll Be Doing 

Support recovery through group work and engagement 

• Help develop and deliver a range of group activities that support recovery 
• Promote mutual aid and support people to access groups such as SMART and 12-step 
• Create welcoming, inclusive environments that encourage participation and connection 

Provide person-centred support 

• Support individuals to identify their recovery needs and goals 
• Offer practical advice, information, and guidance around recovery support 
• Build positive, empowering relationships with people accessing the service 

Be part of a collaborative team 

• Contribute to multi-disciplinary meetings and service discussions 
• Work alongside colleagues to ensure a consistent, high-quality service 
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to monitoring and evaluation 

Represent and promote Recovery Connections 

• Engage with the local community and partner organisations 
• Promote the service and support people to access recovery opportunities 
• Uphold the values and ethos of a peer-led, strengths-based organisation 

Work safely and professionally 

• Maintain professional boundaries at all times 
• Follow safeguarding practices and organisational policies 
• Commit to ongoing learning, development, and reflective practice 

What We’re Looking For 

We’re looking for someone who is values-led, compassionate, and motivated to support others. 

Knowledge & Values 

• Understanding of substance use, recovery, and social inclusion 
• Knowledge of recovery approaches (e.g. SMART, 12-step, CHIME, Recovery Capital) 
• Strong commitment to equality, diversity, and a strengths-based approach 
• A genuine belief that people can and do recover 

Experience 

• Experience of delivering group sessions or supporting people in a coaching role 
• Experience of working with individuals in a recovery or community setting (desirable) 
• Lived or family experience of recovery (welcomed and valued) 

Skills & Attributes 

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
• Ability to engage, motivate, and build relationships with others 
• Organised, reliable, and able to manage your workload effectively 
• Empathetic, non-judgemental, and approachable 
• Flexible and open to learning 

Qualifications 

• Level 2 qualification in Health & Social Care, coaching, counselling (or willingness to complete within 12 months — fully funded)
