On the last day of Recovery Month ’22, five staff and community members went to West London for the final of The Recovery Street Film Festival. The annual competition invites charities, organisations, and others with lived experience to share their creativity with a short movie submission of 1-3 minutes.
Every year, the organisers set the budding filmmakers a task of moulding their movies around a certain idea, or concept. And this year, that concept was “Who Am I?”.
With all movies submitted in early August, a panel of judges selected 15 movies for the finals, and our own creation was amongst the shortlist!
With the support of DMC Media, the entire video, which you can see below, was created from within our own Middlesbrough recovery community. Ideas were shared in Bedford House, and filming took place around the town, including at our own community garden and close to Fork in the Road Cafe.
And the result speaks for itself. The video demonstrates the immense creativity which can grow from a community, and spark within the recovery journey. Enjoy!
